Fixing short sleeves - Liian lyhyiden hihojen dilemma

I knitted this sweater for my eldest daughter already in 2011, and she still wears it a lot. Only that sleeves have become way too short. Although the sweater is not in mint condition anymore (you can see some pilling in the photos) it is a warm and comfortable sweater plus that she likes it. So instead of knitting a new sweater for her I just decided to add some sleeve length.
At first I used a needle and some contrasting yarn to put lifelines on sleeves and then just cut the sleeves off on top of the lifelines. I picked the stitches on dpns and knitted on for some extra 8cm of sleeve length. Then just used kitchener stitch to attach lower parts of the sleeves back on - and voilà - no more short sleeves!

Helppoa! Nyt paita lämmittää vielä tämän talven mainiosti. Onhan siinä jo nukkaa pinnassa mutta lempipaita mikä lempipaita..

Hyvä paitapelastus! Lapset tosiaan tuntuu kasvavan vaan hirveesti pituutta, leveyden pysyessä samana :)

I think that's so clever! Who would throw away such a lovely pullover, especielly if it's dear for the owner!

Emma: no niin tekevät. Leveys tulee sit varmaan vasta vanhempana;-)

Berenike: It's the lazy mom's solution for fixing things. But I'm also happy that my children don't always want something new but they are totally happy with the repurposed and fixed stuff. It's also more ecological this way (gotta think about the future as well...)

ArualMaria: todellinen laiskan äidin vaihtoehto;-)

Sigrun: That was the easiest solution out, that I could think of...
