repurposed napkin frame purse - kierrätetty lautasliinapussukka

Welcome to the part 3 of the series of frame purses that I've made recently...
This time I show you a purse that is made from an old napkin. I received a bundle of old (beginning of 20th century) linens. There were several crochet table cloths, doilies and then some napkins with pretty cross stitch motifs on them... Unfortunately many of them had stains on them that just stubbornly stayed on, even though I tried my hardest to get them clean. I did not want to waste the beautiful embroideries, or throw them away. Instead, I'm going to use them as material for my other projects.

I also happen to have a pile of sample fabrics that I got from my friend's mom (they date back to 1970's) from the time they lived in the UK... That's where the dotted fabric is from.

I wanted to add some quaint elements to this frame purse, so I used my stamps to make a little label for it. This is how:
Stamp the image onto the material with ink (like VersaCraft) that can be used on fabric. Iron on to fix. Then iron some two-sided fusible lining (such as Vliesoline) on the reverse side of the label. Remove the paper, and trim the edges of the label with pinking shears. Now place the label where you want it on the actual material, and iron on top. Ready and nice! I used my sewing machine to stitch around my label with contrasting sewing thread, but this is optional.

Then just added some ricrac-ribbon and sewed the whole thing together. I really learned how to make a pattern that works and fits perfectly. Yay!

 

Sarjassamme "kehyspussukoita ja taas lisää kehyspussukoita" olemme nyt osassa kolme. Sain mummini vanhoja liinavaatteita melkoisen kasan ja osa niistä oli tahraisia. En saanut tahroja kovasta yrityksestä huolimatta pois, mutten raaskinut heittää nätisti kirjottuja lautasliinoja jne poiskaan, joten käytän niitä materiaaleina muihin projekteihin. Tässä niistä ensimmäinen, johon on päässyt pari lautasliinaa sekä pikkullinen kangas, joka on 1970-luvulta. (sain kangasnäytteitä ison pinon jokunen vuosi sitten... hyvä, että saan niitäkin nyt käyttöön...vihdoin) 

Tähän pussukkaan tein merkin leimaamalla. Eli leima kankaalle tarkoitukseensopivalla musteella, sitten silittämällä kiinnitys. Pala kaksipuolista liimaharsoa silittämällä kiinni nurjalle. Tämän jälkeen taustapaperi pois, ja "merkin" leikkaaminen muotoonsa harkkosaksilla. Sitten merkki paikoilleen silittämällä. Voila. Helppoa kuin mikä ja pieni, piristävä yksityiskohta on siinä. Ompelin vielä koneella oranssilla langalla merkin ympäri, jotta sain siihen vähän tuollaisen postimerkkifiiliksen. Sitten polvekenauhaa pieni pätkä ja ompelu + kehyksen liimaus ja tällainen siitä tuli! 
Opin tätä kehyskukkaroa tehdessä kuinka tuon kaavan saa täydellisesti sopimaan kehykseen ! Ja tässä pussukassahan on lisäksi erillinen sivu- ja pohjakappale, joka tuo pussukkaan lisää tilaa. Bueno.
