A well-marinated vest - Hyvin marinoitunut liivi

I just finished a vest that I "found" from my craft basket some time ago... I had knitted the main body (without any real pattern obviously) then probably had encountered some difficulties to continue from there (no wonder - as the body piece has a pretty unique shape...) OK - so I did not want to frog it, but to make something wearable out of it and here's the result:

The body is knitted from side to side with some addad short rows to achieve a slight A-shape. Then I have added a knitted picot edge to the bottom, and some crochet crab stitch to the top edge. The strap/sleeve department was the hardest one to decide upon. I ended up crocheting some small flowers and then attaching them to one another. Added a crocheted edges to both staps and attached them to the main body... Basically that was it. And it is indeed wearable. (I must admit I'm a bit surprised here... but in a very good way)

Pattern: Obviously none/ MUTU meiningillä tehty 
Yarn: Noro Cashmere Island
Needles: No idea - probably 5mm or so .
Crochet hook: 5mm

Tämä on yksi niistä keskeneräisistä neuleista jonka "löysin" joku aika sitten käsityökorini pohjalta. Aloitettu tod.näk joskus vuonna 2010. Tosin ei mitään mielikuvaa itse neulomisesta... Eli olin neulonut vartalokappaleen sivusta sivuun (jotta raidat tulisi pystyyn - sen muistan) ja lisäillyt väliin lyhennettyjä kerroksia, jotta olen saanut kappaleeseen lievän A-linjan. Sitten olin neulonut alareunaan nyppyreunuksen ja yläreunan huolittelusta vastasi rapuvirkkaus. Tähän se sitten olikin jäänyt. Varmaan sen vuoksi, että kappale oli melko "persoonallisen" mallinen ja oli pienoinen tenkkapoo kuinka tähän saisi olkaimet/hihat väsättyä niin, että lopputulos olisi hyvä. 

Päädyin lopulta virkkaamaan kukkasia, jotka samantien yhdistin virkaten ja siinä oli olkaimet. Vähän pylväitä/kiinteitäsilmukoita/ketjusilmukkaa reunaan niin, että muodostui omaa silmää miellyttävä reunus ja lopuksi olkaimet kiinni vartalokappaleeseen: ja kuin ihmeen kaupalla sehän on ihan pidettävä! (Olen oikeasti melko yllättynyt, että sain jotain käyttökelpoista aikaiseksi näinkin vapaalla tyylillä...) 

Noro Sekku shawl

It's -15 celsius outside. And it's still snowing.
I've been making some progress on my several knitting projects (lacy cardi, highly texturized cardi, gray jacket, a pair of socks & a couple of scarves... and I really think I'm still going to cast on for another pair of socks today..)

So still lots of knitting going on here - maybe it is time to show my Noro Sekku shawl that I knitted some time ago.
Pattern: none/mine - just sort of knitted and the thing just formed by itself.
Yarn: Noro Sekku, #5 - 1 skein exactly (I had maybe a 1 meter of yarn left after bind off)
Needles: 4mm
Basically I used the PI -shaping and increased with K1, YO rows. Also included some K2tog, YO rows in between the increase rows - to keep the shawl a bit more lacy & airy.
The hem is just simple feather & fan lace.
The colours in Sekku are incredible. So bright and saturated. And the feel of the yarn is something completely different to any other yarn I've ever knitted with. I enjoyed knitting this - but now when it is finished it looks like almost too much colour put into one shawl. Makes me think of the rainbow...Or the native american textiles.
